The budget for Portobello Craigmillar Community Grants Fund (CGF) in 2025/26 has now been fully allocated. The next round of funding in Portobello Craigmillar will be in March 2026.

Awards made in 2025/26

  • Evolution Swim School CIC: Awarded £2,724 for a targeted summer swim programme, providing free lessons to non-swimming children and women from SIMD 1–3 areas in the Portobello cluster, building water confidence and essential life-saving skills.
  • Sandy's Community Centre: Awarded £4,916 for a new anti-poverty cooking group at Sandy’s Community Centre.
  • Oi Musica CIC: Awarded £3,316 for music tuition and a music group for local young people.
  • Lyra: Awarded £2,473 for Lyra Young Ensemble (aged 12+) to present a week of free shows for community audiences, to celebrate local talent and pride in greater Craigmillar.
  • Let The People Sing: Awarded £2,891 for Craigmillar/Niddrie recovery and addictions support groups - a walking group, art group, music group and breakfast mornings.
  • Craigmillar Literacy Trust: Awarded £1,776 for ‘Baby Rhymetime and Talking Together’, early literacy and early communication groups for families with babies under 6 months.
  • Re-Act, Refugee Action Scotland: Awarded £3,610 for the Happiness Group, a group of New Scots aged 50+ who meet fortnightly to share, learn and explore their new home.
  • Carr Gomm: Awarded £4,858 to provide a small anti-poverty grants pot for essential items for vulnerable patients in Craigmillar.
