Replacing Lindsay Road Bridge

Lindsay Road Bridge connects North Fort Street and Lindsay Road. In recent years it has been a pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Hawthornvale Path forming an important link for walking, wheeling and cycling in the Newhaven area.

The bridge is 85 years old and approaching the end of its functional life and was closed in December 2021 for safety reasons.

After local engagement events and an online survey we developed a design and a planning application was granted in January 2025. You can view this as reference 24/04552/FUL on the

Once the design is finalised and we have the necessary statutory powers, we will confirm funding and timescales for construction.
